Rising Costs for United Club Membership

United Airlines has announced an increase in the cost of its United Club lounge membership, alongside the launch of a new premium tier called All Access. As of March 24, 2025, the standard United Club membership fee has risen by $100 or 9,000 MileagePlus miles, bringing the new starting cost to $750 or 94,000 miles. Previously, the membership started at $650 or 85,000 miles, with discounts available for Premier 1K members.

This membership change also alters guest access. Previously, standard members could bring guests into United Club lounges, but under the new structure, guest privileges are now exclusive to the newly introduced All Access membership. These adjustments come as United continues to revamp its lounge offerings, including new designs and locations.

Introducing the ‘All Access’ Membership

United Airlines’s new All Access membership offers expanded benefits at a significantly higher price. Costing $1,400 or 175,000 miles, this membership allows the primary holder to bring up to two adult guests or one adult guest along with dependents under 18. Additionally, All Access members gain entry to Star Alliance lounges, a privilege not included in the standard United Club membership. Typically, access to Star Alliance lounges is reserved for travelers with elite status on a Star Alliance airline or those flying in premium cabins.

For frequent travelers who often bring companions, the All Access membership may provide better value compared to purchasing multiple individual memberships. United also offers discounts on this premium membership for elite flyers: Premier Platinum members pay $1,300 or 163,000 miles, Premier 1K members pay $1,200 or 150,000 miles, and Global Services members can join for $1,000 or 125,000 miles.

Alternative Options for Lounge Access

For travelers seeking a more cost-effective way to access United Club lounges, certain United credit cards offer complimentary membership. The United Club℠ Card and United Club℠ Business Card, both with a $695 annual fee, include an individual United Club membership with access for the cardholder, one adult guest, and dependents under 18. This can be a more economical alternative compared to paying for a membership outright.

Additionally, cardholders can unlock an All Access membership by either spending $50,000 on their card within a calendar year or achieving at least Premier Gold status. These options provide flexibility for those who want lounge access without directly purchasing a membership.

Final Thoughts

United Club membership fees have increased, and guest access has become more limited under the standard plan. However, United Airlines’s new All Access tier offers expanded privileges for a higher price, including access to Star Alliance lounges. Current members will retain their benefits until their renewal date, at which point they must pay the new rates. For those looking for a more affordable option, certain credit cards provide a viable alternative to maintaining United Club access without paying the full membership cost.
