Amazon is introducing a new artificial intelligence tool, Amelia, designed to assist third-party sellers in resolving account issues and accessing key data more efficiently. The company announced the launch on Thursday, with Amelia currently in beta for select U.S. sellers. Amazon plans to make it widely available later this year.
Amelia is described as an “all-in-one, generative-AI based selling expert” and will be accessible through Seller Central, the platform used by third-party merchants. Amazon unveils ai tool Amelia as part of its broader push to integrate AI across services, following the rollout of AI tools like the shopping assistant Rufus and the generative AI service Bedrock for cloud customers.
AI-Powered Enhancements for E-Commerce
Amazon has been steadily enhancing its e-commerce platform with AI-driven features. The company now uses AI to generate product review summaries and help third-party sellers create listings and generate ad photos. During the announcement, Amazon also revealed plans to let sellers create AI-generated video ads and use AI to write product listings in bulk.
The company aims to personalize the shopping experience further by using generative AI to recommend products based on users’ shopping history. For example, if a customer often searches for “gluten-free” products, Amazon might display that term more prominently in product descriptions.
Amelia Tackles Seller Account Troubleshooting
Amazon unveils ai tool Amelia, which offers a major advantage by addressing account troubleshooting, a common pain point for third-party sellers, as explained by Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide selling partner services. Sellers could potentially avoid the need to contact support staff directly, saving time and resolving issues faster.
“There are going to be places where, instead of chatting with seller support or getting on the phone, Amelia can step in and resolve the issue quicker,” Mehta said. Amelia is designed to streamline processes such as filing claims for missing inventory or troubleshooting account suspensions, easing the workload for both sellers and support teams.
Generative AI and Seller Data Security
How Amazon Is Delivering Packages Faster With The Help Of Generative AI
Amelia uses Amazon’s Bedrock, a generative AI service that allows access to large language models. The tool is trained using public data from the web, Amazon seller resources, and other publicly available information. However, Amazon clarified that Amelia is not trained on seller-specific data, which remains confidential and secure.
Amazon unveils ai tool Amelia, which relies on a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) framework that combines generative AI with traditional information retrieval methods, ensuring seller-specific data can be accessed without compromising privacy.
