Nvidia has announced a major investment in artificial intelligence cloud provider Nebius, expanding its involvement in the growing AI infrastructure sector. Nvidia invests $2 billion in Nebius, reflecting rising demand for computing power and data center capacity as companies around the world develop artificial intelligence systems.

The investment was disclosed through a regulatory filing that confirmed Nvidia will acquire shares representing about 8.3 percent ownership in Nebius.

Investment Supports Expansion Of AI Cloud Infrastructure

Under the agreement, Nvidia will purchase shares in Nebius at a price of 94.94 dollars per share. Following the announcement, shares of Nebius rose significantly in market trading. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam and its shares trade on the Nasdaq exchange.

Nebius operates cloud computing infrastructure designed to support artificial intelligence workloads. The company plans to expand its computing capacity to more than five gigawatts of data center power by the end of 2030, and Nvidia invests $2 billion in Nebius as part of this broader effort to scale infrastructure. This level of capacity is comparable to the electricity consumption of more than four million households in the United States, highlighting the scale required to support AI systems that rely on powerful computing hardware.

Nvidia has become one of the central suppliers of graphics processing units used to train and run artificial intelligence models. As demand for these chips continues to grow, the company has also increased its investments in infrastructure companies that deploy these systems.

Nebius is among the companies building dedicated computing environments that allow businesses to run artificial intelligence applications. These cloud platforms provide access to advanced processors, storage systems, and networking infrastructure needed for machine learning and data processing.

The investment also reflects Nvidia’s broader strategy of supporting companies that build computing environments using its hardware systems.

Growing Role Of Neocloud Companies In AI Ecosystem

Nebius is part of a group of emerging cloud infrastructure providers often referred to as neocloud companies, and Nvidia invests $2 billion in Nebius as interest in these specialized providers grows. These firms focus primarily on supplying computing capacity tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. Unlike traditional cloud providers that serve a wide range of industries and applications, neocloud companies often specialise in high-performance computing environments used by technology developers.

Several neocloud providers have secured significant infrastructure agreements with major technology companies. Nebius has entered deals with firms including Microsoft and Meta Platforms to supply artificial intelligence computing resources.

Another company in the same sector is CoreWeave, which has also built cloud infrastructure designed to support artificial intelligence development and training workloads.

Nvidia has previously announced other major investments within the artificial intelligence ecosystem. One example includes agreements to deploy computing systems for OpenAI as part of broader infrastructure expansion efforts.

At the same time, Nebius has significantly increased spending to expand its computing facilities. The company reported capital expenditure of 2.1 billion dollars during the December quarter, compared with 416 million dollars during the same period one year earlier. As infrastructure spending accelerates across the AI sector, Nvidia invests $2 billion in Nebius while companies build the large-scale data centers required for artificial intelligence development, including investments in power supply, computing hardware, cooling systems, and networking infrastructure.

For entrepreneurs and business leaders in the technology sector, these investments highlight the growing importance of computing infrastructure as artificial intelligence becomes a central component of modern digital services.
