NEC Corporation of Malaysia has been named the Cisco Service Provider Partner of the Year 2024, marking a major achievement for its Service Provider Solution (SPSL) unit. This recognition showcases NEC’s expertise in delivering high-performance, scalable networking solutions using Cisco’s Mass Scale Infrastructure (MSI), serving a diverse range of clients from telecommunications to enterprise sectors.

The award spotlights NEC Malaysia’s leadership in integrating advanced technologies such as Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN), Multi-Vendor Integration (MVI), and 5G security features. These capabilities have enabled NEC to offer secure, reliable, and future-ready 5G connectivity, positioning the company as a trusted technology provider.

As a Cisco Global System Integrator Partner, NEC Malaysia holds certifications in Telco Networks, Enterprise Networks, and Cybersecurity. These accreditations empower the company to implement Cisco’s Telco Network Solutions across local and global operations. The result is a strong support system for telecommunications operators and multinational businesses based on industry best practices and international standards.

Cisco and NEC Celebrate Continued Collaboration

Cisco ASEAN President Bee Kheng Tay praised NEC Malaysia for its continued commitment to innovation and service delivery. “In today’s dynamic digital landscape, businesses seek integrated solutions and seamless service. Highlighting NEC’s role as a Cisco Service Provider Partner, she noted its leadership in modernizing client infrastructure, integrating AI capabilities, and ensuring both resilience and security in the dynamic digital landscape. Tay added that Cisco is proud of the partnership and looks forward to further collaboration.

A significant development in this partnership was the March 2024 launch of the Intelligent Center Operations of NEC (ICON) in Johor, Malaysia. Established alongside NEC Asia Pacific, ICON acts as a centralized hub for customer service management. It hosts a Security Operations Center (SOC) and a Network Operations Center (NOC), supporting clients with managed services and real-time monitoring to enhance service quality and responsiveness.

Wataru Irie, Managing Director of NEC Malaysia, emphasized that NEC’s value lies in allowing clients to focus on their core operations while NEC handles critical network and security infrastructure. “We help our customers succeed by optimising their networks, enabling the rapid rollout of new services, and leveraging AI-powered automation for faster time-to-market,” he said.

NEC Supports Malaysia’s Cybersecurity Vision

NEC Malaysia’s initiatives align closely with the Malaysian government’s efforts to boost national cybersecurity. With the introduction of the Cyber Security Act 2024 and the upcoming Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy 2025–2030, NEC’s technologies are well-positioned to support these frameworks and elevate the country’s status as a cybersecurity leader in the region.

The company also places a strong emphasis on sustainable and fail-safe infrastructure, working with top technology partners to avoid single points of failure and deliver reliable, AI-driven solutions. These innovations contribute to building a resilient and future-proof network environment for NEC’s clients.

With over 125 years of global experience, NEC continues to be a cornerstone of digital transformation in the ASEAN region. Its recognition as a Cisco Service Provider Partner highlights its strategic focus and underscores its commitment to innovation and security in the digital age.
